Hot Rod update.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
So I decided before I dive into the Leslie cabinet I should give my Hot Rod Deluxe a facelift. The cabinet it's in now is fine aside from a few tolex tears, but it's made of MDF (as I discovered this weekend) & I wanted to put it in something a little more sturdy (as well as a add a more bass-friendly speaker, but more on that later).

Here's the basic assembly sitting next to patient zero. It's mostly solid pine, the baffles will be made of pine and/or birch plywood.

More detail of the joints & a dry fit of the speaker baffle. Lots of sanding/routing follows.

After much sanding (still a little bit to go) and with the speaker baffle/grill cloth. The grill cloth was rescued from my donor organ/organ donor.
Today, we stain.
